So, here’s your sneak peek at Indian Summer, enjoy….
“Did you see something?” She scanned the area, looking for anything that might have caught his attention. The emergency supply bag slid off his shoulders and onto the ground as he surveyed the area.
“This is our spot.” Following his lead, she put her supplies down on the ground next to his. She reached a hand into the sack and fumbled around until she found a hard object, tracing the outline with her fingers until she was sure she had found the binoculars. Forcing the other objects out of the way, she pulled them to the top. After a moment of fiddling with the eye pieces, she put the strap over her head and scanned the area, careful not to miss any places wherean animal could be hiding behind, such as rocks or bushes.
The terrain was rocky, but largely flat, making it hard to see very far. “Is there another spot? Maybe one where we could get a better vantage point?”
“Today, we stay here” He was unpacking his own bag, a mix of supplies she could identify and metal containers. Curious, she decided to hold her tongue for a while. When the silence became unbearable, it would be something to talk about.
“I just thought maybe we could go somewhere a little higher. So we can scan more of the area.”
“Today we are assigned to be here. If you want to go somewhere else, you have to ask Dr. Reddy.”
Sighing, she allowed the binoculars to hang around her neck. She was used to running her own expeditions, not playing by someone else’s rules. “I just wanted to acquaint myself with the area.”
He made a huffing sound that she couldn’t quite understand. Biting her tongue, she decided that it was probably best not to ask. Not sure how she was going to be able to survive the next six hours sitting silently behind a rock with this guy, she focused on unpacking her supplies. Maybe later that night she could talk Pavani into letting her switch partners.Author Bio
