Drink Deep Blog Tour ~ Chloe Neill Interview
Welcome to my stop on Chloe Neill’s Drink Deep Blog Tour. Ever since reading the very first book, Some Girls Bite, I’ve been hooked on & in love with this series. I have to admit, I’m just now reading Hard Bitten – I know I’m behind *shakes head* I have a good reason, I hate cliffhangers and I know that Hard Bitten has a HUGE one. You see, I’m a very impatient person. I hate waiting! That particular virtue was handed out on a day when I had my nose in a book and couldn’t be bothered
So, I decided that I would wait until Drink Deep came out so that I wouldn’t have to wait
see perfect plan. But now that it’s released, it’s on!! If you haven’t started reading this series yet, what are you waiting for? Get to clicking and buy the books at the following links…
When you first got the idea for the Chicagoland Vampire series, did it come to you as a series or just one book that you’ve since made into a series?
It came to me–and still comes to me–as an entire series. I think about each book like an episode in a vampire soap opera. Each episode moves the major plot along, but there are also side mysteries that must be addressed.
I purposefully haven’t read Hard Bitten yet because I know there is a major cliffhanger (shhh, don’t tell me, lol). I wanted to wait until closer to the release of Drink Deep because I’m such an impatient person. When writing a series, how do you make the decision where to end the story & set up the next book?
It’s a very difficult balance. You have to trust your instincts, think about how readers need to be satisfied at the end of
each book, be true to the characters, and listen to your editor.
I absolutely love listening to an author’s playlist of music that inspired favorite scenes. Do you listen to music while writing to set the mood? If so, do you have your playlists posted?
I do have playlists posted, for some of the more recent books. Readers can find them in the “Extras” portion of my website. I especially love Muse, Snow Patrol and Florence + The Machine.
What other than writing, are you passionate about?
I have a full-time day job, so obviously I spend a lot of time there. I love my husband and our two dogs. I also love graphic and interior design, baking and reading.
Thanks for having me today!
[box type= "warning"]About the Author….
Chloe Neill was born and raised in the South, but now makes her home in the Midwest–just close enough to Cadogan House and St. Sophia’s to keep an eye on things. When not transcribing Merit’s and Lily’s adventures, she bakes, works, and scours the Internet for good recipes and great graphic design. Chloe also maintains her sanity by spending time with her boys–her favorite landscape photographer/husband and their dogs, Baxter and Scout. (Both she and the photographer understand the dogs are in charge.)
