I’m not exactly sure why I feel so comfortable with contemporary romance . It’s just always been the genre I feel most at home with. I walk down the main street of town and come up with ideas. I go to the local pool, stare at the hotties (and by hotties I mean my husband and my husband only *snort*) and stories come to life.

I like accuracy. I need to know a place to see where the story is going, so in that regard having real life places and stories that could actually happen, gives me the abilities to make them more believable.

But I suppose that is where the problems also lie.

There are bazillions of contemp. romances out there. It’s inevitable that some stories will seem similar to others and have problems with predictability. I think that is the hardest obstacle to overcome with this genre. With paranormal you can make the story as unbelievable as you like. You can have your vampiric hero making love to the heroine at the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The drama and villains are only limited to your imagination, where as with contemp., you need to write something that people will believe can actually occur.

And yes, I did just snort to myself. Cause we all know guys out there really put a woman’s sexual interested at the forefront, and never forget to apologize, and always have a bank account bigger than the ocean.

But I hope you understand where I’m coming from. I love contemporary romance because I can let the stories sink under my skin. I place myself in the heroine’s shoes and can hope that one day, someone out there will actually live the life of my characters.

A love that breaks all the rules…

Since her first day at work, Beth Graison has been in love with Dean Sutherland—the “Son” in Sutherland & Son. Although he’s an unrepentant player, there’s an unmistakable connection between them, and she knows he feels it too. But she’s not about to risk her career for any man, especially one with an office right down the hall whom she works with every day.

Dean Sutherland doesn’t do love, but he does do women. And he hasn’t felt more than sexual attraction for any woman until Beth. Entirely feminine, smart, and with a natural beauty beyond compare, she makes him think about all kinds of uncomfortable things—like a future and happiness—things he knows from experience are pure fiction.

When his father, the “Sutherland” in Sutherland & Son, propositions Beth to be more than just an employee, Dean can’t keep her at arm’s length any longer. But he doesn’t expect the scorching kiss they share, or the idea that forms when he holds her in his arms. Can he stop his father’s manipulating game by making the first move on Beth? Or will his reputation as a womanizer make him just one more Sutherland she wants to ignore?

[typography font="Engagement" size="32" size_format="px" color="#e7c0fc"]About the Author, Eden Summers[/typography]

Eden SummersI live in regional New South Wales, Australia with my two highly energetic sons and a husband I don’t deserve (in a good way).

I’ve been an avid romance reader for years, falling in love with fictional hero’s left, right and center. It wasn’t until early 2011 that I decided to add to my pastime of reading and reviewing and take my own writing seriously.

I joined the Australian Romance Writers Association.

The hunky men and sassy women who dominate my daydreams are now being put to paper, eagerly awaiting their moment in the limelight.

Hopefully one day in the near future I will have something hot and sweet published and available to share with the world.

You can find her at the following locations:

I read to save my sanity, plain & simple. I am a married mother of 3 (2 of which are teenagers, yay me!) who needs an escape from the eye rolls, attitude and day to day drama that comes along with raising teenagers. Without books, I would be medicated ;)

I do…well not all the time, but within the last year we’ve had a few sporting tournaments here and I’ve been lucky enough to be at the pool when they were there exercising. NICE!

But apart from that, I don’t get to see hot guys (apart from my spunky husband) hardly ever.

A really good read makes you suspend your disbelief. Sometimes I’m hard pressed as to why some books (or tv shows) let me go with the flow and others cause me to nitpick over a similar element. I think it’s party likeable characters and writing style.

I think we are all the same Anne. We pick at the things that aren’t believable in our own little worlds – but our lives are all so different.

      Thank you for commenting.

Congrats Eden on the release. CONCEALED DESIRE sounds great. I have just became a romance reader less than 4 years ago, and a contemporary fan probably more in the last year. I do find myself reading more and more contemporary stories recently.
